From NOK 750

Excursion with a guide to the roughest part of Hardangervidda. Spectacular journey through Austdalen, with breath-taking views and waterfalls to “Langevatn” a reservoir lake at alt. 1,200m, with a view on Hardanger Jøkulen, a large glacier.

The guide tells the fascinating history of 100 years of "energy" in Osa. On the way back down, we visit the breathtaking waterfall “Roykafossen.

Then we go to the historic, 100y old "Kafeen" for a pancake lunch. After lunch the tour continues to the tunnels of Osa. A historical view on the epic plan to turn Osa into a city for 6,000 people, develop a railway and metal industry. A telling of the extraordinary story of Fossekompani, who, in 1912, started the construction of a hydroelectric power plant. In the roughest area of Hardangervidda, under harsh conditions, many kilometers of tunnels were constructed, including a vertical shaft of nearly 1 km inside the mountain. After bankruptcy in 1923, the project was halted, and then resumed during WW II under German occupation, but abandoned again within 2 years. Ultimately, none of the many projects were completed.
